Around 1,400 students are receiving financial help from Big Heart Student Care centres that cater to students of all races. 4,200 students are currently enrolled at these centres run by self-help groups. The first centres were set up five years ago to help children from less-privileged backgrounds. They are located in various primary schools to provide students, educational and developmental support. Two new centres were opened on Feb 18. The event was attended by representatives from the four self-help groups. There are currently 30 such centres.
