Big Heart SCC@Boon Lay Garden Primary had the pleasure of welcoming Mdm President Halimah Yacob along with Ms Low Yen Ling, Chairperson of Big Heart Student Care, and Minister of State for Ministry of Culture, Community & Youth and Ministry of Trade & Industry for a visit to our student care centre.
Mdm President Halimah Yacob is a patron of Youth Corps Singapore (YCS), a programme partner with Big Heart Student Care whom we have collaborated with on many interesting experiential and educational learning journeys for our students since 2016, example “A Walk to Remember” during the school holidays.
Mdm President Halimah and Ms Low Yen Ling spent a fruitful afternoon with our students as they engaged in a lantern designing activity and learnt more about the culture of the Mid-Autumn Festival together. The activity was conducted by YCS volunteers through video conference as part of their KidsFun Online Programme.
Fun and educational programmes, such as today’s, are an important part of Big Heart’s curriculum, where students gain skills and develop knowledge through our seven key pillars that focus on values and virtues, literacy, numeracy, S.T.E.M, aesthetics, physical education and experiential learning respectively.
We look forward to organising more of such fun and educational activities to keep our students engaged during the school holidays, all while ensuring our precautionary safety measures are being met. Big Heart and YCS will be collaborating to bring more of the KidsFun Online Programme to our centres in the upcoming school holidays, with a focus on various themes like arts, environment, heritage, numeracy and sports.
